Stranded on a desert island, sunburnt and starving? No problem! There's an app for that!

BLUE was brought on board for post and effects for the two-spot SHEETZ "Fairy" campaign, in partnership with agency Tattoo Projects, with Buffy MCoy Directing. (Charlotte, NC).

We supervised both location shoots (Bonita Springs, FL and Charlotte, NC) in preparation for a LOT of roto and compositing.

"Shooting was a challenge because of the heat and it's affect on makeup, and recreation activity on the water. Both added work when it came to scene cleanup", says Howard McCabe, Owner/Creative Director. "But we had a great crew, and ultimately those little things you do in production make a big difference in post".

"The biggest challenge was the wings." says Rick Malwitz, Senior Designer. "Are they angels? Are they bugs? What are they?" Ultimately we landed on a hybrid design inspired by a child's costume wings as the perfect solution. "SHEETZ wanted the fairies to look a little silly, but not hokey, which is why we added the wings in post." The wings and fairy dust were purposefully designed to look "digital" as a nod to the app - suggesting that these fairies are born from your smartphone.

"These spots are a lot of fun, and we're already talking about the next one." says Howard McCabe. While the first two are already on the air, you'll just have to wait and see what the rest of the campaign brings.. unless you have a magical fairy that can see into the future, but that's crazy talk, right?
